The light is mostly coming from the right in the photograph however, its such a light, full photo that its most probably coming from another source, the reason why its so bright is because of the open room that this photograph is taken in and because the light source is natural light. The direction of the light is coming from the right shining into the room from above, and the sun is creating a harsh zig zag shape on the material backdrop. since its such a light photo, the texture is very smooth and soft, despite the sharp focus. The light picks out the texture of the objects because its so strong. The texture of objects is however subtle but after looking at the photograph in detail you notice it because of the shadows being created. The whole photograph is in sharp focus, which goes along nicely since the lighting is sharp which gives clarity to the photograph, meaning every detail is in perfect focus. The angle that the photograph is taken level with the main subject however its tilting downwards slightly. The photographer could have taken this photo while kneeling as it seems to be quite low down. The photograph is taken looking straight at the sheet of material with the zig zags on. The main focus of the photograph is the zig zag pattern created by the light source. I believe that the photographer chose to include part of the window frame in the photograph to show where the light is coming from. This way you see the zig zag and you see how it has been created and where it has been created from. The decision to take this photograph in black and white is a beneficial decision because if colour was used, it would detract attention from the main subject which is the zig zag. This most captivating part of this photo is that there is so much light in it, so much so that there is an obvious contrast of light to very harsh light and adding colour would remove the crisp, natural, clean effect you gain through using just black and white.
